GRIP selected for significant grant from MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving

March 18, 2024

We’re excited to share that the GRIP Training Institute has been selected to receive a $2 million gift as an awardee of the Yield Giving Open Call. GRIP was selected from over 6,000 applications from across the country. We are humbled that a national process involving extensive peer review led to the selection of GRIP for this award.

This is a validation of the transformative healing and accountability work done by incarcerated students and graduates, staff, and survivors of violence through the Guiding Rage Into Power (GRIP) program. And it’s not just about GRIP – this is a recognition of the powerful impact that the field of restorative justice can have on public safety, healing from harm, and community wellbeing.

We’re proud to be among the restorative justice groups to receive this support, and we celebrate with others in this community.

This award recognizes the impact we’ve made and the direction we’re headed. Over the next several years, the GRIP Training Institute will use these funds to sustain and expand our programs, implementing a scaling strategy that will enable us to reach even more individuals in need of healing and accountability and to have greater impact.

We couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities this grant presents for GRIP and the communities we serve.
