Nefertiti Martin

Nefertiti Asanti Martin is the Grants Manager at GRIP. Nefertiti is passionate about using storytelling and relationship-building to sustain programs that create lasting impact for individuals and communities. Originally from the Bronx, NY, they bring over 15 years of experience working with organizations that champion equity, justice, and transformation, including Destiny Arts Center, Girls for Gender Equity, and Community United Against Violence.

In addition to their development work, Nefertiti is a published poet and editor. Her debut chapbook, fist of wind, won the inaugural Start a Riot! Chapbook Prize, and they are a SFF/Nomadic Press Literary Award recipient. Nefertiti believes in the power of art, accountability, and connection as vehicles for healing and growth—values they carry into their work at GRIP. Based in Oakland, CA, Nefertiti enjoys journaling, learning to play drums, and coconut water.
