Graduation Photos
Oh Happy Day!
At the end of each year, when students in the GRIP program complete the intensive 52- week-long curriculum, having taken the deep dive into themselves and transformed their lives, they participate in a cap & gown graduation ceremony. Together, they stand before the community to sign a Peace Pledge, committing their lives to non-violence and peacemaking.
The community — dignitaries, politicians, family and community, prison leadership and
staff — gather from all corners of life to witness and help actualize this rite of passage. Toward the end, guests form a human arch under which graduates walk through, one by one, while the prison gospel choir sings “Oh, Happy Day!”
