My grandmother always said, “Get your education; it’s the one thing no one can take from you.” Because of this, I’m committed to serving people from all walks of life, drawing on the knowledge that has shaped who I am. As a Black, formerly incarcerated, and systems impacted born woman, my journey, marked by significant adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) has deeply shaped my understanding of resilience and purpose.
Teresa currently works as a GRIP Trainee Facilitator with the G.R.I.P. (Guiding Rage into Power) Institute. She has also had the honor of leading grief workshops and/or circles
at Napa State Hospital, Valley State Prison, Correctional Training Facility, Chowchilla Women’s Facility, UC Berkeley, Richmond’s National Night Out 2024, and for the AHIMSA
Collective. These tailored workshops have helped community members navigate some of their toughest challenges. Teresa’s journey reflects resilience and transformation. Through
her service, she aims to inspire and empower, transforming personal trials into a force for positive change in every community she engages.
