Ash Busby
Ash Busby is an educator committed to transformative justice, collective liberation and community care. Ash is a former elementary English Language Development teacher and instructional coach. They currently serve as a lecturer and supervisor in teacher education. Ash recently finished their Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for Social Justice & Equity from San José State University where they researched the intersection of culturally responsive teaching and adult social emotional learning. Their research explored how developing teachers’ social, emotional and cultural competencies informs their beliefs, perceptions and classroom practice. They are a certified Mindfulness Meditation Instructor through The Awareness Training Institute and UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center and a trained Restorative Justice Facilitator through the Restorative Justice Institute.
Borrowing from the wisdom and work of Boyes-Watson and Pranis, ash shares the following assumptions that guide their work:
